Moscow denounces British intelligence attempts to recruit Russian diplomats

He said: “These attempts are happening and we condemn them, and we draw the attention of the British authorities to them.”

Earlier, Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov said that the United States is trying to recruit Russian diplomats using provocative methods.

On the other hand, Kelin stressed that the initiatives undertaken by Western countries to jointly produce medium-range missiles are very dangerous and that Russia will have to respond to them appropriately.

“We see such initiatives as extremely dangerous,” he said. “According to media reports, European missiles, after their development, will replace the American medium- and short-range missiles, which the United States plans to deploy on German territory from 2026. Of course, we will have to respond to this by taking measures in the manner most acceptable to us.”

The Times newspaper had previously reported that Britain was considering producing missiles with a range of 3,200 kilometers to destroy Russian nuclear weapons.

According to the newspaper, Britain could develop these missiles in cooperation with Germany, and British Defense Minister John Healey discussed the project in Berlin during his visit last Wednesday, and the missiles are also expected to be stationed in Germany.

Russia has repeatedly stressed that it does not pose a threat to any NATO member state, but will not ignore actions that could threaten its interests and national security. Russia stresses that it remains open to dialogue, but on an equal footing, and that the West must abandon the path of militarizing Europe.

President Vladimir Putin stressed that Russia does not want to enter into a direct military conflict with NATO, but if any party wants to, Moscow is ready.
