Update (05/19/2023) – GS
This week, NetherRealm Studios finally made the official reveal of the new game in the Mortal Kombat franchise. Unsurprisingly, the game will have several DLC characters to maintain its longevity, in addition to the traditional guest characters.
Apparently, the first wave of DLC characters for Mortal Kombat 1 ended up leaking through a page on the Amazon Italy website. In the game’s announcement, NetherRealm revealed that one of the game’s editions will give access to six characters via DLC following launch.
According to the announcement, the first wave of DLC characters will consist of:
- Quan Chi
- Omni Man
- Ermac
- Takeda
- Pacifier
- captain homeland
It is worth remembering that before the announcement of the game, there were rumors that the Peacemaker would be one of the guest charactersas well as Captain Patria.
The big surprise is the presence of two important characters in Amazon franchises, being the Omni Man from Invincible and Captain Homeland from The Boys. This shows that the partnership between Warner Bros. Discovery and Amazon is bigger than we thought.
As always, we must treat the information as rumor, but if these are really the DLC characters, what do you think?

According to journalist Jez Corden of WindowsCentral, Mortal Kombat 12 will be officially revealed during the PlayStation Showcase that will take place in late May. Even though the event has yet to be officially confirmed, the rumors regarding it keep getting bigger and bigger.
On Twitter, Greg Miller, host of Kinda Funny, made a post regarding the Peacemaker, the DC Comics anti-hero who is played by John Cena in the character’s series and in The Suicide Squad. In response to the post, Corden notes that “it would be cool if he was a playable character in an upcoming fighting game.”
Even if this is not an official confirmation that he will be in Mortal Kombat 12, it would not be difficult to imagine that this will happen, considering that NetherRealm Studios belongs to WB Games, which also takes care of DC Comics games.
As always, we should treat the information as a rumor until official revelations happen, but would you like to see Peacemaker fight alongside Scorpion, Sub-Zero and company?
What other guest characters would you like to see in the new game?
