Mors-Thy’s fantastic pool of talent is headed for a DM semi-final

RIBE: So many superlatives have been used about Mors-Thy’s great season that you have to start reusing some of the words. Nevertheless, there is still great reason to praise the young lads from the north-west corner of Denmark.

Because they constantly continue to impress. Most recently in a difficult away game against Ribe-Esbjerg in the middle pool. The match had moved from a large hall in Esbjerg to a small hall in Ribe, which gave a condensed and intense atmosphere.

It was just food for the young lads, who, led by Mads Svane Knudsne and Victor Norlyk, set the pace in the match. However, they got good help from the well-versed Henrik Toft Hansen, who threw himself around for loose balls without thinking that there is another day tomorrow.

That kind of dedication was a common trait for all MTH players, but it is nevertheless impressive beyond the usual that Mors-Thy is in the process of playing close to a DM semi-final with a crew that, among other things, counts 17 -year-old Gustav Sunesen and 20-year-old Silas Overby in roles that you would hardly have seen them occupy when the season started.

Towards Ribe-Esbjerg, the young lions ran easily, unconcerned and unimpressed through the West Jutland. It seemed almost unnatural that an injury-stricken Mors-Thy team just blows through all the adversity and keeps finding new ways to win handball matches.

Earlier in the season, Mors-Thy struggled a bit to hold on to solid leads when the going got tough, but this evening in Ribe there were no slouchs. The young players delivered a second half so stylish that Niels Agesen could hardly ask for more.

The central block with twice Kasper – Didriksen and Lindgren – helped along by Henrik Toft Hansen was a living wall, and Svend Rughave’s 12 saves certainly also helped the case.

– We have found something that really works well. It doesn’t matter who is in there and who is in the goal, we know the tasks. It makes everything easier, says Kasper Lindgren, who was a giant in Mors-Thy’s defensive against Ribe-Esbjerg. Just like he has been in many of the previous games.

This time he was helped by Silas Overby and Gustav Sunesen on the backs. They also get words of praise along the way.

– It is mega-unique that we can just pick up one young player after another from our fantastic academy. It says everything about the quality of the academy we have here at the club. They just go in and play and deliver, says Kasper Lindgren.

Offensively, it is not Kasper Lindgren who takes the lead, but he is quick to praise the young Mors-Thy players who found a way to the back of the net time after time. Not least Mads Svane Knudsen, who netted 13 times.

– We benefit from the fact that Mads and Viggo (Victor Norlyk) have played together throughout their youth. They know each other well and are able to put it into play together, says Kasper Lindgren.

The defense profile has no doubt that it can become something big at Mors and in Thy if the rhythms from Ribe continue in the coming matches.

– We have a good opportunity to reach the semi-finals. It is absolutely fantastic to be in that situation, says Kasper Lindgren.

In a weekend where the club’s U17 and U19 teams have taken steps towards DM medals in their respective ranks, the senior team is also well on its way to such an achievement, which perhaps very well frames the eminent and in many ways historic season that Mors -Thy is busy.
