Morocco’s plea before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the legal consequences of Israeli practices in the occupied Palestinian territory provoked a reaction from Palestinian officials who underlined the correctness of this position which unifies that of the Arab-Islamic and world community. regarding Palestine.
Morocco recalled before the ICJ its determination to “work by all legal means within its reach, to protect the legal, historical, political and spiritual status of the Holy City, and preserve it in its unique vocation as a city of peace and meeting for the faithful of all monotheistic religions.
Represented by the King’s Ambassador in The Hague, Mohamed Basri, Morocco took part in the hearings of the International Court of Justice, which take place from February 19 to 29. The Kingdom was not only present at the oral arguments in this case, but also made a written submission which demonstrates its commitment to this matter before the High Court.
This plea is a consecration of the Kingdom’s constant position with regard to the Palestinian cause, said the Advisor to the Palestinian President for Religious Affairs, Mahmoud El Habach, in reaction to this event.
He stressed that it is in line with unanimity, on the Arab, Islamic and international levels, regarding the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with Al-Quds as its capital.
And to add that this position of Morocco reinforces the unified Arab-Islamic position with regard to the Palestinian question, capable of strengthening the conviction of the international community and that of the ICJ as to the justness of the Palestinian cause. .
As a reminder, Morocco underlined the commitment of King Mohammed VI, president of the Al Quds Committee, in favor of the Palestinian cause, within the framework of the ongoing procedure before the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
Morocco was present as part of the request for an advisory opinion on the legal consequences of Israel’s policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.
The Palestinian advisor praised the commitment and constant support of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency to the Maqdessis. “We appreciate any effort made by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency and the Al-Quds Committee, chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to consolidate the religious and civilizational status of this city,” he said.
For his part, Nazir Majli, Palestinian expert in Israeli affairs, welcomed the “serious and courageous” efforts and initiatives that Morocco constantly undertakes for dialogue between Palestinians and Israelis as a basis for the establishment of peace.
He indicated that Morocco’s policy regarding this issue reflects wisdom, foresight and an unwavering desire to promote the resolution of the Palestinian question definitively.
And to recall the “humane and noble” positions expressed by Morocco, its commitment through the Bayt Mal Al Quds Acharif agency, which assumes a primordial role in favor of alleviating the suffering of the Palestinians and safeguarding the civilizational character and religious of the holy city of Al Quds.
The expert also noted that Morocco was paying “particular attention and following the situation in Al Quds, thanks to the efforts made by King Mohammed VI, President of the Al Quds Committee, for the defense of the Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinians to the establishment of an independent state with Al Quds-East as its capital.
