In a statement to MAP on the sidelines of this meeting organized by the Congress of Mexico City on the occasion of the 2nd international session of parliament for “Mother Earth”, Mr. Sesma, from the Ecologist Green Party of Mexico, said noted that despite its low emission rates, Morocco is setting an example by deploying strategies to meet climate challenges, particularly in terms of building energy capacity to deal with extreme natural phenomena.

“In the government of Mexico, we can only try to learn from experiences like Morocco’s in the development of clean and renewable energies, in the context of our pressing need to ensure energy security and to meet the climate challenges,” he said.

During this meeting, the participants had the opportunity to follow a presentation on the measures and initiatives taken by Morocco within the framework of the 2030 agenda for a healthy and sustainable environment, as a strategic choice of national public policies.

The diplomat Ikram Chahine from the Moroccan Embassy in Mexico indicated in particular that the Kingdom, as stipulated in its Constitution, pays particular attention to the protection of the environment, citing the strategic projects implemented in this direction, including the Noor Ouarzazate solar power plant and the Tarfaya wind farm.

Thanks to the visionary policy of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco has become a leader in renewable energies, she underlined.

This meeting was an opportunity for the participants to recall the imperative of uniting international efforts to deal with the climate emergency which today threatens the planet, on the basis of the principle of shared responsibility.
