Morocco: The 10% increase in the minimum wage must be adopted Thursday by the government

The minimum wage will increase by 10% in Morocco. The Council of Government will have to adopt, next Thursday, a draft decree for the revaluation of the SMIG (Guaranteed interprofessional minimum wage) and this, within the framework of the implementation of the results of the social agreement concluded on April 30 between the Executive of Aziz Akhannouch, the most representative trade unions, and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM).

As a reminder, the agreement in question stipulates the increase of the minimum wage in the sectors of industry, commerce and services by 10% over two years (5% in September 2022, then 5% in September 2023), as well as the progressive unification of the legal minimum wage between the sectors of industry, commerce, the liberal professions and the agricultural sector.

Still in connection with the salary component in the social dialogue, the agreement concluded the day before Labor Day provides for raising the minimum wage in the public sector to 3,500 net dirhams, the abolition of scale 7 for civil servants belonging to categories of administrative assistants and technical assistants, to reassess the promotion in grade from 33 to 36%.
