Morocco is committed to lasting stability in the Lake Chad Basin region by insisting on the importance of continuing to provide the necessary support to the Multinational Joint Force (MMF).
The Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the African Union (AU) and the ECA-UN, Mohamed Arrouchi, who was speaking at a meeting held Monday by videoconference of the Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the AU, stressed the importance of continuing to provide the necessary support to the multinational joint force (MMF).
During this meeting of the AU PSC devoted to the review of the mandate of the MNJTF, the Moroccan delegation wished to salute the countries of the Lake Chad basin which have made encouraging efforts to coordinate their action once morest the terrorists of Boko Haram thanks to the FMM, with the support of the African Union and the European Union.
It should be recalled that the AU approved the creation of the force on March 3, 2015 and provided that a sub-regional organization, the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC), would be the civilian body responsible for directing it. .
The MNJTF has established a crucial multilateral framework to combat Boko Haram terrorists, who are increasingly launching attacks across borders.
To this end, the Moroccan delegation insisted on the importance of continuing to provide the necessary support to the FMM in order to enable it to consolidate the achievements already made as well as to continue the positive dynamics of this joint effort allowing the various countries concerned to learn from each other, promote the idea of cross-border cooperation and improve tactical coordination.
