Two agreements aimed at supporting start-ups and creating digital schools were signed on Friday in Marrakech, on the sidelines of the first edition of “GITEX Africa”, the largest technology and start-up fair in Africa.

The first agreement concluded between the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform and Technopark aims to strengthen Technopark’s capacities to provide better quality support to startups and help them integrate national and international markets.

It also aims to strengthen research and development in the field of innovative entrepreneurship and the digital economy with a view to consolidating the spirit of innovation in companies and developing specialties in technology.

The second agreement was signed between the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform and YouCode, for the creation of other schools specializing in programming and digital coding for the benefit of young people from different regions of Morocco.

Covering the period 2023-2026, this agreement will contribute to the development of digital professions and strengthen the network of companies active in the digital sector across the Kingdom.

Thus, 50 young laureates will graduate from these YouCode schools in each promotion and a space will be set up to support young people who want to launch their own project or digital startups.

The Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Ghita Mezzour, noted that these two conventions are part of the vision of King Mohammed VI, which calls for encouraging investment and creating employment for young people, especially in new technology professions.

For her part, the general manager of Technopark, Lamiae Benmakhlouf, indicated that the first agreement is driven by a common ambition to expand the support programs for start-ups and to provide them with all the means to succeed.

It is a question of providing capacity building programs for start-ups to address market needs, to access private and public orders, to successfully raise funds from national and international donors and to accelerate their international development.

Led by the Digital Development Agency (ADD) under the supervision of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, this meeting brings together, for three days, leaders from the public and private sectors, political decision-makers, investors and academics for rich and fruitful exchanges between the public and private sectors of the future largest digital economy in the world.

Africa’s largest entrepreneurship event, ‘GITEX Africa’ is an initiative of ‘GITEX GLOBAL’ in Dubai, the world’s largest tech and startup trade show, ranked as the best in the world by global tech leaders, and which is stopping for this first edition in Morocco, retracing its commitment to accelerate the development of digital infrastructure in Africa.
