The 2022 edition of the Top Model of Universe contest was held recently in Istanbul, Turkey. Very well represented in this competition intended to select the future faces of the fashion world, Morocco shone with a thousand lights.
Thus, notes a press release from the organizers, the young Moroccan Ilias Senhaji has been designated “Top model of universe 2022″. The face of the Moroccan fashion house Calamain, the young model, aged 17, with a Moroccan father and a Russian mother was discovered during Morocco Fashion Week in Marrakech in June 2022.
The designer Wafaa Idrissi, icon of the Moroccan caftan, for her part, paraded during the evening of the grand jury a new collection of “magnificent white caftans embroidered with gold thread, enhanced with pearls and Swarovski crystals, entirely hand-crafted. hand by the master craftsmen of Morocco”.
The touch that defines Wafaa Idrissi makes it possible to create “a dialogue between tradition and modernity, openness and sharing to make the Moroccan caftan shine throughout the world”.
The winner, Miss Turkey Defne Sentuk and her runner-up, Miss Netherlands, Rosan Lankam wore kaftans during their coronations.
At the origin of this partnership, the president of the association “Route de la Soie et d’Al-Andalus” and founder of the Oriental Fashion Show and Maroc Fashion Week Marrakech, Hind Joudar, who has been working “untiringly for 18 years to develop and promote the caftan and Moroccan fashion inside and outside Morocco”.
Note that the next edition of the “Top Model of Universe” will be held in Marrakech.
