The Summer Fancy Food Show in New York, one of the major trade fairs in the food industry in North America, opened its doors on Sunday with Morocco as Alex Reed of honor.
This fair is a showcase for highlighting the variety, authenticity and quality of Moroccan products in an American market that is as popular as it is competitive.
For this 67th edition, which is held for three days at the Javits Center in the heart of Manhattan, the Morocco pavilion stands out in a strategic location with an area of 390 m2. No less than 40 exhibitors present a wide range of food and fish products to a qualified audience of more than 21,000 professionals.
The show brings together tens of thousands of buyers, distributors and importers from the North American agri-food industry sector.
Among the flagship Made in Morocco products highlighted are organic and extra virgin olive oil, olives, capers, canned sardines, couscous and pasta.
The opening ceremony, marked by the traditional ribbon-cutting, took place in the presence of the General Manager of Morocco Foodex, Ghita El Ghorfi, and Bill Lynch, President of the Specialty Food Association (SFA), an organization in the origin of the New York Show and which brings together more than 3,000 companies among suppliers, importers and specialized food entrepreneurs, as well as distributors and retailers.

The choice of Morocco as the country of honor for the Summer Fancy Food Show 2023 is the result of an innovative agricultural policy and promotion of the agri-food sector which aims to be dynamic, said Ms. El Ghorfi.

The president of the SFA welcomed, for his part, that the relationship between the New York Salon and Morocco, with a participation of more than 20 years, is developing to see today the Kingdom in the spotlight of the Salon, a sign, according to him, of ” growing interest in Moroccan products among American buyers« .

This historic figure was driven mainly by citrus exports ($172 million), followed by processed agricultural products ($69 million), such as olives en conserve“, and canned fish products ($93 million).
These results testify to the success of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in strengthening economic relations and promoting trade between Morocco and the United States.
