Morocco Receives a Moroccan Crocodile Fossil Found on a Farm in Indiana in 2014

The US government officially announces that it has returned a Moroccan crocodile fossil to the Kingdom this week, in a small ceremony held at the Moroccan Embassy in Washington.

“The skull was found by the FBI among 7,000 artifacts on a farm in Indiana in 2014. This was the largest recovery of cultural property the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation), has undertaken since its inception. , and experts have been working since then to identify the legitimate owners of these reserves”, indicates the American Embassy in Morocco, on its official Facebook page.

The same source points out that “the origin and age of the crocodile skull cannot currently be determined, but the handover ceremony of this artifact is part of the United States’ commitment to prevent the smuggling of essential items in relationship with the history and cultural heritage of Morocco”.
