Following this controversy which has caused much ink to flow in Morocco, the French Embassy in Morocco published a press release on Wednesday evening in which it denied any intervention by the French authorities while reaffirming France’s commitment to favor of freedom of expression.
“The French Embassy has taken note of statements to the press and comments from the press suggesting that the French authorities have intervened with a French television channel so that it does not allow one of the guests of a news program. It formally denies these allegations,” reads the press release, which emphasizes France’s commitment to freedom of expression and freedom of the press “everywhere in the world”.
