Morocco is preparing its 1st report on the implementation of the New Urban Agenda

As part of Morocco’s international commitments inherent in the implementation of the New Urban Agenda, Fatima Zahra Mansouri, Minister of National Land Use Planning, Town Planning, Housing and City Policy chaired on January 12, 2022, a national workshop for the preparation of the first national report on the implementation of the New Urban Agenda (NAU).

This workshop was the opportunity to set up the national commission for the preparation of the report and to explain the coordination mission devolved to the Ministry of National Land Use Planning, Town Planning, Housing and Policy. of the City, to convey the precepts of the New Urban Agenda, to popularize the approach methodology adopted and the actions to be carried out with the various stakeholders mobilized for the preparation of the first national report, in accordance with UN norms and standards.

The approach adopted by this Ministry for the production of the said report is part of an inclusive, participatory and transparent approach, taking into account the role and contributions of key ministerial departments, local authorities and other stakeholders (civil society, private sector , academic institutions, etc.).

The First National Report on the implementation of the New Urban Agenda, will present a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the progress made in the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and the objectives and targets agreed at the international level in terms of urbanization and establishments. sustainable humans.

This workshop was attended by representatives of various government departments, national and international organizations, institutional and private actors, professional orders and corporations, associations and academia, experts in the field of sustainable urban development, (UN- Habitat, UNDP, (UCLG) United Cities and Local Governments,…).
