In Morocco, the Insurance and Social Security Control Authority (ACAPS) released its sector report for the month of November 2021. The document indicates that the premiums issued by insurance and reinsurance companies have reached 46.5 billion dirhams (around 5 billion USD), up 10.5% compared to the same period in 2020.
According to data from the supervisory authority, the “Life” branch grew by 14.1% to 21 billion dirhams. It was the most driven by the “Savings-support unit-linked” segment with an increase of 25.4%, once morest 14.5% and 7% respectively for the “Savings-dirhams” and “death” segments.
For its part, the “Non-life” branch grew by 7.6% to 25.6 billion dirhams. An increase following that of “Acceptances” (678.9 million dirhams, + 29.7%) as well as premiums for “technical risks” (222.6 million dirhams, + 23.3%).
For their part, the premiums issued within the framework of “Bodily accident” insurance amounted to more than 4.45 billion dirhams (+ 5.1%), once morest 12.09 billion (+ 9.5%). with regard to “Automobile”.
In Q3 2021, premiums issued by insurance and reinsurance companies that share the Moroccan market amounted to around 4.2 billion USD, up 10.8% compared to the same period of the year 2020. For the first three months of the year, they had increased by 10.9% to reach 3 million USD.
