Morocco Gendarme Corruption Conviction: Ouarzazate Court Case Updates

The Criminal Chamber of First Instance of the Ouarzazate Court of Appeal handed down a four-year prison sentence on Monday once morest two gendarmes. She also acquitted another gendarme.

Tried for having committed violations linked to procedures and the falsification of a set of documents, in particular the falsification of official minutes, the head of the Skoura royal gendarmerie center and his colleague each received a sentence of four years in prison. The third accused in this case, a gendarme with the rank of corporal from the same center, was however acquitted.

Last November, the King’s Attorney General at the Court of Appeal of Ouarzazate had instructed to deepen the investigation once morest the three gendarmes accused of having committed violations linked to procedures and the falsification of documents. a set of documents, including the falsification of official minutes. The investigations carried out by the public prosecutor and the National Brigade of the Royal Gendarmerie during this investigation proved fruitful.

The investigating judge ordered their placement in pre-trial detention at the local prison of Ouarzazate to further the investigation for falsification of an official document. Thus, the three gendarmes were pursued under arrest.
