Morocco-France Economic Days: Spotlight on the Blue Economy and Industrial Ecosystem

“The blue economy and its industrial ecosystem” is the theme of the 6th stage of the Morocco-France economic days, which is being held in Nantes.

Organized at the initiative of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Morocco (CFCIM), in partnership with the Embassy of the Kingdom in Paris, this 6th stage (January 23-25) is marked by a rich program and a series meetings, with the participation of numerous Moroccan and French economic actors, public and private, concerned by the different sectors of the blue economy.

The Moroccan delegation to these meetings includes more than 50 people, including economic players and representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) and the Moroccan Agency for the Development of Investments and of Exports (AMDIE).

It is also made up of representatives of the National Ports Agency (AMP), the National Fisheries Office (ONP), regional investment centers, in particular Laaŷoune-Sakia Al Hamra, Dakhal-Oued-Eddahab and Guelmim Oued-Noun, as well as the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEEP).

The opening of these meetings, Wednesday morning, was marked by the interventions of Claire Hugues, vice-president of the Pays de la Loire Regional Council, Saâd Bendourou, deputy head of mission at the Moroccan embassy in France, Youssef Fadil , Director of Agri-Food Industries and Acting Director General of Industry (Ministry of Industry and Commerce), and Claudia Gaudiau-Francisco, President of the CFCIM.

These meetings are divided into a series of round tables focusing on the different aspects linked to the blue economy, in this case fishing and aquaculture, seaside tourism, pleasure craft and nautical leisure activities, transport, flows maritime, energy and desalination, biotechnology and the naval industry, in addition to transversal aspects, namely research and development, training and financing.

“This 6th stage is an opportunity to emphasize the importance of the blue economy and also to highlight the potential for cooperation and co-investment in this area,” Mr. Fadil told MAP.

The various meetings of this 6th edition, which will continue on Thursday, will allow the various Moroccan and French actors in the industrial ecosystem of the blue economy to debate and exchange on the issues and perspectives of this sector and to identify and to initiate win-win partnerships in industrial projects linked to the blue economy, added the Moroccan official.

And to note that these days also offer the opportunity to highlight the Royal Vision in the field, as well as the assets and potential that Morocco has to make the blue economy one of the levers of economic and social development of the country.

The choice of the theme of the blue economy fits perfectly into the heart of the Kingdom’s New Development Model, in accordance with the High Guidelines of HM King Mohammed VI, indicated Mr. Fadil.

These days were marked by the signing of a framework partnership agreement between the Moroccan Naval Industry Cluster (CINM), the Moroccan Shipowners Association (ARMA) and the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Morocco.

The purpose of this agreement is to define the general framework as well as the modalities of cooperation between the signatory parties, with a view to promoting the development of the blue economy in its maritime transport and naval industry aspects.

The program for this edition will continue with B2B meetings between the various Moroccan and French public and private economic players as well as field visits.
