Morocco: Citic Dicastal bets big on the Atlantic Free Zone

The Citic Dicastal Group will strengthen its presence in Morocco. The Chinese group gave, this Wednesday, the kickoff to the construction of its new industrial unit within the Atlantic Free Zone of Kenitra (AFZ), in the presence of the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour , the governor of the province of Kenitra, Fouad M’Hamdi, the Chinese ambassador to Morocco, Li Changlin, and the vice-president DG of Dicastal Morocco Africa, Badr Lahmoudi.

This project was the subject of an agreement signed, on the occasion, between Ryad Mezzour and the vice-president of Citic Dicastal, Xu Zuo, by videoconference from China. This site will require an overall investment of 1.8 billion DH. It will make it possible to build the Chinese group’s third factory in Morocco, specializing in the molding and machining of aluminum chassis components.

With a production capacity of 10 million units, the plant will create 766 qualified direct jobs.

The site covers an area of 20,000m² in a plot of 12 ha. Called “Dika Morroco Castings – DMC”, this project will enable the Kingdom to set up, in six months, its first production plant for cast aluminum components for powertrains and chassis. It will be state-of-the-art and part of a sustainable development approach, according to the group.

The plant will indeed be powered by green electricity generated from renewable energies present in Morocco.
