Morocco and Israel celebrated the second anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries, in the presence of officials and ministers of the Kingdom.
According to the Anadolu Agency correspondent, artistic performances and speeches were the subject of the ceremony which was organized on Thursday by the Israeli Liaison Office, at the Mohammed V Theater in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.
The ceremony was attended by the charge d’affaires of the Israeli liaison office in Morocco, Alona Fisher, the adviser to the Moroccan monarch, André Azoulay, the Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and the Family, Awatef Hayar, and the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali.
On December 10, 2020, Israel and Morocco announced the resumption of diplomatic relations, following a break that has lasted since 2000.
On the 22nd of the same month, the Moroccan government signed a “joint declaration” with Israel and the United States, during the first visit of an official Israeli-American delegation to the capital, Rabat.
Moroccan authorities and parties reject this normalization and express it through numerous demonstrations.
Morocco has thus become the fourth Arab country to accept normalization with Israel, in 2020, following the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan.
