The Joint Declaration is part of the long-standing partnership between Morocco and the United States in preparing for and responding to radiological and nuclear emergencies.
It concerns the recognition by the United States of Morocco’s substantial contribution, as Chairman of the ”Response and Mitigation” Working Group of the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism and Coordinator of the ”GICNT Implementation” group. and Assessment” of 2019-2021.
The text initialed by the Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Morocco in Vienna, Azzeddine Farhane, and the US Under-Secretary of State for Nuclear Security of the Department of Energy, Jil Hruby, affirms the disposition of the departments of energy of the United States to further strengthen cooperation with the competent Moroccan departments to meet the challenges related to the preparation and response to radiological emergencies.
It also highlights the long-standing partnership in terms of cooperation relating to the response to radiological emergencies (Exercise Convex 3) between the National Center for Energy, Sciences and Nuclear Techniques (CNESTEN) and the Directorate General for Civil protection.
