Morocco is the anchor point of Chariot, a company focused on energy transition in Africa, with the development of the Anchovy deposit as a priority, underlined the Group’s Country Director in Morocco, Pierre Raillard.

“Morocco is key to our activities and the anchor point of our gas strategy with the development of the Anchovy deposit as a priority,” said Pierre Raillard. The company has already started its drilling operations on December 15, 2021, he added, explaining that the “Stena Don” drilling platform has arrived on site, at the level of the “Lixus” permit, off Morocco, for carry out drilling operations on the Anchovy gas development project. These are operations to drill the Anchovy-2 appraisal and exploration well as well as re-entry into the Anchovy-1 well previously drilled. The end of the work is estimated at the end of January.

The drilling of the Anchovy-2 appraisal and exploration well aims to allow the development of the sandstone reservoir discovered previously by confirming the presence of gas resources, the quality of the reservoir and the productivity of the well. They also have as objectives to be able to set up a future well for the production and development of the future deposit and to deepen the evaluation in new low-risk exploration targets with the aim of developing resources. larger for long-term growth.

Concerning the re-entry of the Anchovy-1 well, it would make it possible to assess the integrity of the well drilled previously, to assess the productivity and characteristics of the sandstone gas reservoir “A” and to provide a second future production well for development. of the deposit. The Country Director of Chariot in Morocco noted that the company will be able to communicate on the final results of the work started “within a few months following evaluation of the technical data”. Chariot holds a 75% stake and is the operator of the “Lixus” permit in partnership with the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM) which owns 25%, it should be remembered.

In this wake, he specified that the two parties “work together on the implementation of programs and the monitoring of works”, noting that the Office is an essential component for the success of operations.
