MOROCCO: A HIGH-TECH HUB IN AFRICA – GITEX-Africa Leaders Applaud The Country’s Digital Transformation Efforts

Marrakech – Gathered in the framework of GITEX-Africa, world leaders in high-tech have welcomed Morocco’s commitment to digital transformation through initiatives aimed at positioning the Kingdom as a major technological hub in Africa.

“This move demonstrates the recognition of the importance of valuing advanced technologies and the strong desire to promote innovation, attract investment, develop digital infrastructure and cultivate a skilled workforce” , declared to M24, the television channel of continuous information of the MAP, the Senior vice-president of the region of Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Turkey and Africa (CEEMETA) at Dell Technologies, Mohammed Amin, on the sidelines of this event placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

Mr. Amin noted that Morocco has adopted a proactive approach by putting in place policies and strategies aimed at fostering digital transformation at all levels, focusing on key areas such as innovation, e- government, digital education, cybersecurity and digital infrastructure.

“As a key market in the CEEMETA region, Morocco plays a strategic role for Dell Technologies. We strongly believe in the Kingdom’s vision of becoming a digital economy and we are committed to supporting this transformation by working closely with our local customers and partners,” he said, adding that “what particularly drives our interest in Morocco is the conviction that this country has significant potential for growth and development”,

In this wake, Mr. Amin indicated that Dell’s ambitions in Morocco “are anchored in our commitment to support the digital transformation of the Kingdom and to contribute to its vision of becoming a leading digital economy”.

For his part, Mr. Jagat Shah, Founder and CEO of Mitsumi Distribution, indicated that “thanks to a young, dynamic and highly qualified population, Morocco will be one of the largest hubs in Africa, supporting the digital transformation not only for the countries of the Continent, but for the whole region”.

The Boss of Mitsumi Distribution, world leader in the distribution of IT equipment and solutions, indicated that GITEX-Africa has constituted a global showcase to highlight the various advances and achievements made by the Kingdom in terms of technological innovation, affirming that the Kingdom has all the assets to play the role of locomotive of the digital transformation of the African economy.

Mr. Shah, in the same vein, noted that the Kingdom, which houses representations of the world’s largest high-tech firms, including Mitsumi Distribution, “constitutes a strategic gateway to African and European markets”. , recalling that the city of Casablanca already houses the regional office of his group for the Maghreb and French-speaking Africa.

“It is quite naturally that the group decided to develop its activities in Morocco and open an office which will be a center of activity for all French-speaking countries in Africa”, explained Mr. Shah, saying he was impressed by the speed of growth of the Moroccan market and expressing Mitsumi Distribution’s readiness to contribute to the digital transformation underway in the region.

Led by the Digital Development Agency (ADD) under the supervision of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, this event brought together leaders from the public and private sectors, political decision-makers, investors and academics for three days of rich exchanges between the public and private sectors of the future largest digital economy in the world.

Africa’s largest entrepreneurship event, GITEX Africa is an initiative of GITEX GLOBAL in Dubai, the world’s largest tech and start-up show, ranked as the best in the world by global tech leaders, and which makes a stopover in this first edition in Morocco, thus retracing its commitment to accelerate the development of digital infrastructures in Africa.
