Moroccan Women’s National Football Team: Historic Feat at the World Cup

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) organized, last Thursday at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora, a reception in honor of the women’s national football team that took part in the World Cup, which is currently being held in Australia and New Zealand.

On this occasion, the president of the FRMF, Fouzi Lekjaa, congratulated the players of the women’s national football team who participated in this football high mass, where they achieved a historic feat by qualifying for the round of 16 for their first participation in a World Cup.

Mr. Lekjaa affirmed that the feat of the Moroccan women’s team as well as the other positive results of national football are the fruit of the roadmap drawn up by HM King Mohammed VI for the development of national sport.

The FRMF president stressed that qualification for the round of 16 is a step on the way to improving the level of women’s football in Morocco, calling on all players to redouble their efforts to continue their sporting career successfully, d As the women’s national team will soon take part in the African qualifiers for the Paris-2024 Olympic Games as well as the African Cup of Nations that Morocco will host next year.

For his part, the coach of the women’s national team, Reynald Pedros, said he was satisfied with the level shown by the Moroccan selection during this World Cup, expressing his thanks to all those who contributed to the feat of the Atlas Lionesses.

The captain of the national team, Ghizlane Chebbak, for her part, said that all the players were determined to achieve positive results and make all Moroccans proud.

She noted that the performance of Morocco’s women’s team is not a coincidence, but the result of hard work and great efforts by the FRMF.

Morocco, the first Arab nation to play in the Women’s World Cup and reach the second round, commanded respect during this planetary meeting, following standing up to hardened selections in these games.
