More than 25 Moroccan trucks encountered difficulties traveling this Wednesday morning on one of the main roads in Algeciras. Four of them had their customs panels known as “high security seals” sabotaged.

On Tuesday, the Franco-Spanish border experienced another obstruction by around forty Moroccan trucks. After finishing unloading fruit and vegetables, the drivers wanted to return via Spanish highways, but were unable to do so due to obstruction by Spanish protesters.

Questioned this Wednesday by Alyaoum24Charki Hachemi, regional secretary of the General Union of Transport Professionals, said that Moroccan drivers crossing Europe, like farmers and exporters, currently fear for their goods.

“This morning, more than 25 Moroccan trucks loaded with vegetables and fruits were deliberately blocked by a long line of Spanish tractors, anxious to delay their arrival at their destination, despite the illegality of their presence on the highways”he added.

The official said the current situation has become ” intolerable “.

Last week, the union of transport professionals wrote to the supervisory ministry concerning the protection of Moroccan trucks and is currently awaiting a response, said the spokesperson, stressing that “the situation has become very critical regarding Moroccan exports of agricultural products to Europe by truck, and this is why many professionals are still afraid to go there.”
