The International Tennis Integrity Agency announced today, Thursday, that the former Moroccan player, Younes Al-Rashidi, has been suspended for life from any sports-related activity, following he was convicted of fixing the results of 135 matches, which is the largest number of violations ever committed by one person.
The independent agency said that the 36-year-old was involved in match-fixing with two Algerian players who were recently suspended by the agency, and the cases were revealed following investigations by law enforcement authorities in cooperation with officials in Belgium.
And the agency stated – in a statement – “An independent judge issued this ruling following all charges were proven, 135 serious violations were discovered, and a fine of $ 34,000 was imposed, in addition to a life ban.”
This ruling bans Al-Rashidi – whose highest position in the ATP doubles classification was 473 in the world – from playing, training or attending any tennis event sponsored by the authorities responsible for the game.
