Moroccan press reports revealed today, Monday, that a sufficient delegation from the Confederation of African Football will visit Mohammed V Stadium in order to check on the arrangements for hosting the final of the African Champions League.
Al-Ahly set a date with Morocco’s Wydad on May 30, in the Champions League final, following defeating Algeria’s ES Setif in the semi-finals, the same round that witnessed Wydad’s brilliance once morest Petro Atletico.
CAF had earlier announced that Morocco (the only candidate) had won the Champions League final following the Senegalese federation withdrew from organizing the match, but Al-Ahly objected to the lack of equal opportunities and demanded that the Confederation choose a neutral stadium for the match.
The Moroccan newspaper, Al-Naktahab, stated that there are those who are promoting the transfer of the African Champions League final to Rabat and will not play at Mohammed V Stadium, which is the opposite of what a CAF delegation will do on Tuesday, which will visit the stadium for the final arrangements to host the meeting.
The newspaper pointed out that CAF will visit Mohammed V Stadium to make arrangements for the final and to determine the most important facilities that will be at the disposal of CAF.
The newspaper denied that there were contacts between the Moroccan Football Association and CAF in order to move the match from Mohammed V Stadium to Rabat.
