Moroccan National Football Team Squad Updates for 2026 World Cup Qualifiers

Moroccan national football team coach Walid Regragui invited the duo Jawad Yamiq and Benjamin Bouchouari to join the national team’s squad in preparation for its 2026 World Cup qualifiers match once morest Tanzania, later this month.

The Moroccan Football Federation said on its official website, “Mr. Walid Al-Regragui, the first national team coach, invited both Jawad Al-Yamiq, defender of the Saudi team Al-Wahda, and Benjamin Bouchouari, the French midfielder of Saint-Etienne, to join the preparatory gathering that the national elite is taking part in the Mohammed VI complex.”

On the other hand, the injury suffered by Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi, along with his team Olympique de Marseille, prevented the player from joining the rally that began on Monday.

Regragui retained most of the players who participated in the last preparatory gathering, with the exception of the injured Salim Malah, Osama Al-Azouzi and Sofiane Boufal, in addition to Ounahi, who was recently injured.

Morocco’s new lineup witnessed the return of Wydad captain Yahya Gibran, whom Regragui considered to have regained his level during the African League matches.

Morocco was scheduled to open its qualifying campaign once morest Eritrea next Thursday, before Eritrea withdrew from the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

The group qualifiers will continue with the remaining five teams, which include Zambia, Congo, Tanzania, Niger, and Morocco.

Regragui said that his country will not play a friendly match instead of facing Eritrea, which was cancelled, and will content himself with adjusting the travel date to Dar es Salaam to face Tanzania on November 21.

The Moroccan national team for the Tanzania match included goalkeepers: Yacine Bounou, Mounir El Mohammadi and Mehdi Benabid.

In defence: Romain Saiss, Nassir Mazraoui, Ashraf Hakimi, Nayef Akrad, Younis Abdel Hamid, Abdel Kabir Abqar, Yahya Attiya Allah, Ayoub Al Amloud and Jawad Al Yamiq.

In the middle: Sufyan Amrabat, Amir Richardson, Bilal Al-Khanous, Ismail Sabiri, Yahya Gibran, and Benjamin Bouchwari.

In the attack: Hakim Ziyech, Youssef Nasiri, Amin Adly, Ayoub El Kaabi, Abdel Samad El Zalzouli, Tariq Tisoudali, Amin Harith, and Sofiane Diop.
