The Government Council approved, today, Thursday, July 18, 2024, a draft decree on determining the types and amounts of scholarships for boarding schools and school canteens in public education institutions, as well as the conditions for benefiting from them, presented by the Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa.

It concerns draft decree No. 2.24.475 amending and supplementing Decree No. 2.19.333 issued on Dhu al-Hijjah 5, 1440 (August 7, 2019) specifying the types and amounts of scholarships for boarding schools and school canteens in public education institutions, as well as the conditions for benefiting from them.

The Minister in charge of Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesman, Mustapha Baitas, explained during a press conference following the weekly meeting of the Council, that this project comes in implementation of the government’s orientations aimed at improving the mechanisms for targeting families to benefit from social support programs, through the necessity of registering in the unified social registry updated by virtue of Law No. 72.18, and in implementation of the 2022-2026 roadmap, especially the procedures related to reviewing and auditing the criteria for targeting beneficiaries of social support programs, as well as the necessity of developing the infrastructure of internal departments and restaurants.

Mr. Baitas added that the draft decree aims to review the mechanisms related to targeting beneficiaries of scholarships for boarding schools and school canteens in public education institutions, and to strengthen the governance of the catering service by adopting the delegated management system at the level of all regional academies for education and training, while increasing the amounts of scholarships for boarding schools and school canteens.
