Some blamed Regragui for the defeat and his instructions, which they believe had a negative impact on the team, which conceded two goals in the second half, dashing the dream of reaching the final and securing an Olympic medal.

This was not the first time that Regragui appeared to give instructions to the Olympic players in this tournament, as the same thing happened from the stands of the Allianz Riviera Stadium in Nice in the group stage.

Regragui also participated in the Moroccan Olympic team’s training sessions several times before some matches.

Since last March, Regragui has been the general supervisor of the Moroccan Olympic team, and played a major role in the dismissal of former coach Issam El-Sharai, who led the team to qualify for the Paris Olympics, and nominated Tariq Sektioui to be the replacement.

The Federation justified the decision to appoint Regragui by its desire to unify the vision between the first and Olympic teams, but some considered that this change was aimed at complete control over all national teams.
