Moroccan Coastal and Artisanal Fishing Statistics 2024: Insights, Trends, and Analysis

The weight of these products stood at 34,805 tonnes (T) over the same period, an increase of 15% compared to 2023, indicates the ONP in its recent report on coastal and artisanal fishing statistics in Morocco.

By species, landings of shellfish, crustaceans and pelagic fish fell, respectively, by 50% to 8 T, 8% to 621 T and 4% to 13,434 T, while landings of algae, cephalopods and fish white posted respective increases of 74%, 47% and 12%.

By port, a total of 1,903 T of coastal and artisanal fishing products were unloaded in Mediterranean port entrances at the end of January 2024, up 26% compared to the same period of the previous year. In terms of value, these ports recorded an increase of 59% to 105.73 million dirhams (MDH).

For their part, landings at ports located on the Atlantic increased by 15% to 32,902 T and increased, in value, by 16% to more than 1.05 billion dirhams.
