The short story: Trent Edwards and Christian Oliver scored 18 points apiece off the bench of his game, while Kamron Hobbs added a game-high 15 assists with 14 points, as Morgan State defeated Virginia-Lynchburg, 120-50 in a non-conference matchup Saturday afternoon at Hill Field House.
OPENING TIP
Edwards scored a season-high 18 points (9-12 FG) and grabbed 11 rebounds with three blocked shots in 36 minutes.
Oliver grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds and scored 18 points (8-14 FG) with two blocks in 21 minutes.
Daniel Akitoby recorded his first double-double of the season as he finished with 16 points on 8-of-9 shooting and collected 10 rebounds with three blocked shots.
Demajion Topps was inserted into the starting lineup and finished with 14 points, seven boards, five assists and a steal.
The Dragons (0-13) were led by Demarris Day added 10 points in 35 minutes. Marcus Willis chipped in four rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals in 23 minutes off the bench.
All 11 Morgan players who saw action in the game scored. Eight players scoring double-digits for the Bears including Marvin Brimage (15), Will Thomas (12) and Allen Udemadu (11).
NOTABLE
It marked the second most points scored during MSU coach Kevin Broadus’ era since posting a 130-49 win against Penn State Greater Allegheny on November 10, 2022.
Morgan improved its home record to 4-1.
