Morena recognizes AMLO’s influence

MEXICO CITY (EFE).— Morena acknowledged that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador violated neutrality during the recent electoral process in an “exceptional manner,” although it did not observe “minimal” elements to influence the vote of the citizens that gave victory to the official Claudia Sheinbaum.

The ruling party expressed this in a letter addressed to the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF), which is studying the challenge to the election of June 2.

The petition was submitted by opposition candidate Xóchitl Gálvez and the parties that supported her: National Action Party (PAN), the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD).

Morena accepted that, “while it is true that, exceptionally, in some cases it was concluded that López Obrador violated the principles of neutrality, impartiality and equity” in some of his conferences, the Tepjf’s substantive rulings have not linked these events “with the presidential election.”

“Therefore, there is no causal link between the violations determined and the presidential election,” he said, and reiterated that “in no morning press conference were there any express calls to vote in favor of Morena or its candidate.”

Nor “against any other candidate or political option in said election.”
