Morena presents initiative so that the SCJN does not rule on constitutional reforms

The vice president of the Chamber of Deputies, from the Morena party, Sergio Gutiérrez Luna, presented this Friday, October 4, a initiative so that the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) does not speak out on constitutional reforms.

The legislator raises a “draft decree that reforms and adds a paragraphto article 11 of the Organic Law of the Judiciary of the Federation, so that the Supreme Court can only discuss controversies that arise within the SCJN or the Judiciary, without the possibility of judging the constitutional reforms.

The Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation will not have powers to hear controversies related to reforms or additions to the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States,” the legislator stressed.

In a publication by X, the legislator indicates:

“I have presented a reform initiative to reaffirm the possibility of the Supreme Court ruling on constitutional reforms. It must be stated in the law that eight people They cannot suppress the will of the people. We are going to defend the democratic legitimation of the most!”

Gutierrez Luna described as “unacceptable” that the Court “intends to assert itself more than the will of the people to defend its privileges” and this appeal seeks to “prevent the SCJN from being used in disputes of a political or ideological nature“.
