Morena candidate arrested in CDMX for alleged homicide

MEXICO CITY.- A person was murdered this Thursday morning inside a property in the Portales neighborhood.

At the site they detained two people, including the candidate for mayor Benito Juárez, Hugo Torres Zumaya and a woman, identified as Alejandra Pacheco.

According to the reports, elements of the Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC) learned of a lifeless man inside a home located in the Portales neighborhood, in the Benito Juárez mayor’s office.

Through the radio frequency the uniformed received the report over one fight in a property located on Emperadores Street and almost on the corner of Canarias Street, so they immediately moved to the site and required a medical unit.

Paramedics who responded to the scene diagnosed the 37-year-old man with no vital signs. Subsequently, security elements cordoned off the area and reported it to the Public Ministry agent for expert services and investigations of the case.

In the place They arrested a womanwife of the murdered man, and counciloridentified as the aggressors.

Hugo Torres Zumaya defines himself as a resident of the Narvarte neighborhood, in the Benito Juárez mayor’s office. He is 39 years old and is currently active in Morena, although on his social networks there are photographs from 2021 in which he showed his support for the PAN and from 2018 for the PRD.

Last February, Hugo Torres Zumaya was exposed on social networks with a photograph showing him showing off a bag with apparent cocaine.

They have also pointed him out for his alleged responsibility in the real estate fraud commission through the Mexico City Housing Institute (INVI).

In addition, he has also been accused of allegedly beating his ex-partner and not paying child support for his daughter.
