Riyadh: More than 100,000 Umrah pilgrims have arrived at the Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah since the start of the Islamic New Year on July 30, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
As of August 29, 1,01,109 pilgrims have reached the holy city. 5,452 people arrived at Madinah airport on Sunday alone.
According to the Haj and Umrah Ministry, 2,68,529 pilgrims arrived in the country by air and 29,689 by land since July 30.
From July 30 till date, the largest number of pilgrims came from Indonesia. 1,27,789 pilgrims from Indonesia performed Umrah. After Indonesia, the highest number of Umrah pilgrims came from Pakistan with 90,253, India with 54,287, Iraq with 36,457, Yemen with 22,224, and Jordan with 12,959.
SPA, Saudi Arabia’s official news agency, said that the Iru Haram Office is making great efforts to further expand the services provided to Umrah pilgrims at the Holy Haram in Makkah and visitors to the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.
