More than a meter of snow between Lake Michigan and Lake Ontario!

It was a real blizzard that hit between Lake Michigan (State of Michigan) and Lake Ontario (State of New York). Indeed, a well-known meteorological phenomenon called “lake effect” took place this weekend in this large area, causing heavy snowfall with more than a meter of powder in places. These regions found themselves completely cut off from the world with almost zero visibility and totally impassable roads (see videos below).

The “lake effect” is a phenomenon during which a depression passes over a large body of water. During this time, the depression will gain in humidity (humidity produced by the waters of the lake) and the associated precipitation will increase significantly. This is what happened with the heavy snowfall this weekend in the areas mentioned above.
