More than 700 people file a lawsuit against the Welfare Pension Fund

MEXICO CITY.- More than 700 people filed a lawsuit once morest the president’s reform Andrés Manuel López Obrador that creates the call Welfare Pension Fund and allows its financing with the inactive accounts of the outside.

The amparo was presented by the law firm Trusan & Roma before the Council of the Federal Judicature (CJF) of Power of attorney.

The document presented this Thursday was accompanied by the signature of 727 people from the private and public sectors and even officials from various agencies of the Federal government as the National Guard.

Lawyer Rodolfo Martínezof the Trusan & Roma officepresented the lawsuit that considers as “unconstitutional” the reforms promoted by President López Obrador that came into force yesterday, May 1.

This reform creates the Welfare Pension Fund to finance the retirement of workers with 100% of their salary, using the resources of inactive Afores of workers over 70 years of age.

The reform of the pension laws “affects the way” in which the plaintiffs decided that their resources in the different administrators were going to be managed in the future,” explained the lawyer.

The changes approved by the Senate of the Republic and the Chamber of Deputies They are “unconstitutional,” arguing that it is “retroactive” and “violates the principle of legal certainty,” Martínez said in front of the CJF.

They anticipate more lawsuits once morest pension reform

The lawyer announced that in the coming weeks “hundreds” of workers from various federal agencies will present their own protection claims “so that their savings are not affected.”

The plaintiffs include workers from the National Institute of Statistic and Geography (Inegi), the National Baking and Stock Commission (CNBV), the National Guardhe National Electoral Institute (INE), among others.

To these protections will be added the legal resources and unconstitutionality actions that the opposition parties will file.

According to the Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) the funds in the inactive accounts of the Afores are for amounts of between 300 and 400 pesos and has announced that it will contribute 60 billion more pesos to the fund.

In total, the Treasury projected that the new Welfare Pension Fund will give the Government of Mexico regarding 130 billion pesos in the next decade alone.
