Brazilian football legend Zico was assaulted in Paris on the day of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. The coach, Arthur Antunes Coimbra, came to the capital as an ambassador for the Brazilian football team and to accompany the delegation in the games.

The incident occurred near the hotel where the Flamengo legend was staying. Zico called a taxi and got into the back with a briefcase, containing a Rolex watch, some diamond jewellery and cash.

Suddenly, a stranger approached the vehicle and distracted the driver. Zicowhile an accomplice took advantage to steal the luggage. The value of the stolen items is estimated at more than 500 thousand dollars. The authorities opened an investigation to identify those responsible.

This robbery is at least the third recorded among the delegations participating in the Paris Olympic Games at the doors of the official opening. The coach of the Argentine football team, Javier Mascherano, declared that the player Thiago Almada “A watch and rings” were stolen from him during training.
