The group of health professionals wishes to draw the attention of the President of the Republic and the government to their responsibility in the face of the dramatic consequences of this legislation, in particular on children’s health.

In this column in Le Monde, health professionals recall the fundamental principles of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen of 1789emphasizing that the right to health, defined as a “state of complete physical and mental well-being”, is a natural and imprescriptible right. They claim that the “immigration” law calls into question the humanist health model of France, renowned for its commitment to human rights and its humanitarian medicine.

The most worrying consequences concern the health of children, with measures contrary to the International Convention on the Rights of the Child, according to Unicef alerts. Professionals emphasize restrictions on family reunification, administrative complications for unaccompanied minors under child welfare protection, limitations on emergency accommodation and threats to care in the event of restriction of medical assistance for State (AME).

In particular, the collective highlights the risk of deterioration in infant mortality due to the new conditions linked to the allocation of aid, conditioned to the recognition of work and subject to significant delays even in the event of eligibility. Health professionals are calling for urgent awareness of the implications of this law on the health system and social security universal in France.
