What a find! Last Monday evening, the cantonal police were called to a Nespresso factory in Romont FR. Employees discovered an unknown, white powder in bags of goods. The analysis carried out by the police showed that it was cocaine.
The police then searched five shipping containers that had been delivered by train the same day. More than 500 kilos of cocaine were discovered and confiscated!
Market value over 50 million
The confiscated cocaine has a purity of over 80 percent and its market value is estimated at over 50 million Swiss francs. According to the Freiburg cantonal police, the drugs were intended for the European market.
Around 20 employees from the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG) were deployed on site.
The public prosecutor of the canton of Friborg has launched an investigation. (of)
