more than 450 free concerts and DJ sets at the Montreux Jazz festival

The Montreux Jazz Festival has concocted a wide free program to discover from July 1st to 16th. More than 450 concerts, DJ sets and workshops will take place on eleven stages. With the main meeting place: the Lake House, a novelty for this 56th edition.

This “Maison du lac” will host concerts, workshops, podcasts, screenings, exhibitions, literary encounters and DJ sets on three floors. In all, more than 250 activities will be offered there from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., the festival announced on Thursday.

concerts and jams

This residence will house eight themed spaces, including The Memphis. This American-style club with a bar and round tables is dedicated to jazz in all its forms. Workshops will be offered in the early evening, followed by concerts presenting “sensations” of the current jazz scene, followed by jam sessions until 05:00.

This stage will welcome the collective Steam Down, the tubist Theon Cross (Member of Sons of Kemet), the multi-instrumentalist Emma-Jean Thackray or the duo Blue Lab Beats, new figurehead of the Blue Note label. Pedal steel guitar virtuoso Roosevelt Collier and bluesman Zac Harmon round out the program.

DJ et projections

Another place, another atmosphere: La Coupole will host DJ sets with fun, disco and house colors, including Hunee, the Marseille collective Famille Marregardingage, DJ Falcon, Barbara Butch and Kiddy Smile.

Also at the Lake House, Le Cinéma will offer screenings, including two evenings in tribute to Davie Bowie and Nick Cave. Don Letts, actor of the London punk scene of the 70s, will present a documentary there.
