In a presentation on the achievements of the sector during the first quarter of 2022, presented on the sidelines of the evaluation meeting chaired by the Minister of Housing, Urbanism and the City, Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, Ms. Bendjama made state of “the completion, until March 2022, of the construction works of 408,342 housing units within the framework of a program providing for 1,288,365 units”, adding that “391,000 units (30%) are in progress, the construction work on 345,000 units (26%) has not yet started, construction work on 41,000 units has stopped and nearly 72,000 other units (6%) are in the process of being delivered”.
In her presentation, presented in the presence of central executives of the sector, directors of wilayas and directors of offices, the official specified that the new program registered under the 2022 finance law, providing for the construction of 60,000 housing units, includes 40,000 rural housing, 10,000 public rental housing (LPL) and 10,000 subsidized promotional housing (LPA).
In the first three months of 2022, 45,065 housing units were delivered, including 12,814 LPL, 17,726 rental-purchase units, 1,768 LPA, 9,678 rural housing, 2,941 social housing and 138 public promotional housing (LPP).
During the same period, construction works for 36,147 housing units were completed, including 1,198 LPL, 17,726 rental-purchase, 1,717 LPA, 12,948 rural housing, 2,420 social housing and 138 LPP.
Work has also started for the construction of 20,425 housing units, including 1,490 LPL, 2,596 LPA, 13,008 rural housing and 3,331 social housing.
With regard to renovation operations, the manager explained that envelopes had been devoted to 7,863 renovation operations, specifying that 1,070 dwellings had been renovated during the quarter, in addition to operations to replace chalets and old buildings for a total of 10,684 housing units with a progress rate of 74%, and this, in the wilayas of Algiers, Oran, Skikda, Mostaganem, Constantine and Annaba.
With regard to agricultural land in the context of the regularization of property deeds, Ms. Bendjama explained that the sector will have to take up a major challenge during the next period, in the context of Ministerial Instruction 02 of September 8 2021 relating to the conditions and modalities for the regularization of land used in the realization of public housing projects, public facilities completed or nearing completion.
