More than 40,000 confirmed cases of dengue fever in Argentina have resulted in 32 deaths
CCTV news client reported that on April 15 local time, the Argentine Ministry of Health issued an announcement saying that as of that day, a total of 41,257 confirmed cases of dengue fever had been found in the country’s capital and 14 provinces, including 32 deaths.
The bulletin pointed out that this year is the year with the highest number of deaths from dengue fever in Argentina since 2009. The main reason is that since last year, the entire territory of Argentina has experienced continuous high-temperature and dry weather that has been rare for nearly 60 years, creating conditions for mosquitoes to breed in large numbers. Therefore, the Ministry of Health of Afghanistan emphasized that dengue fever is an infectious disease transmitted by mosquitoes, and mosquito control is the most effective way to block transmission. To this end, the Afghan health department has carried out large-scale mosquito eradication work across the country and asked residents from all over the country to clean and disinfect their homes. The health department also reminded the public that if they feel unwell following being bitten by mosquitoes, they must seek medical attention immediately to avoid life-threatening due to delay in treatment.
It is reported that Argentina had large-scale dengue fever outbreaks in 2009, 2016 and 2020, causing 5, 11 and 19 deaths respectively.
