In Chad, more than 340,000 people have been affected by floods since the end of June, according to a provisional report released on Wednesday August 24 by the United Nations.
“The provisional assessment of the floods is 341,056 people affected (i.e. 55,123 households) in 11 of the 23 provinces”, including the capital Ndjamena, said in a press release the office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs of the United Nations (Ocha). .
According to the UN, the province of Logone Occidental has the highest number of victims with 147,129 (21,627 households), followed by Sila with 77,357 (13,703 households) and the capital Ndjamena with 41,262 (6,548 households).

Ocha has estimated that the overall cost needed for an appropriate humanitarian response for the affected people amounts to more than 4 billion CFA Francs (approximately 6,374,327 USD) and the government has only 770 million CFA Francs (approximately 1,183,248 USD). USD).
