More than 300 athletes run in the municipality of Viana – news

Three hundred and 49 athletes, out of the 1,500 planned, are already registered for the fourth edition of the pedestrian race called São Silvestre de Viana, scheduled for Saturday, in Luanda.

Speaking to the press, the president of the municipal athletics association of Viana, Santana João, said that 250 of those registered are male and 50 female.

The list also includes 33 male and 16 female athletes in the Paralympic class. According to the official, the event as part of the municipality’s day celebrations, to be held on Wednesday, the 13th, will award prizes to the top 10 classified, contrary to past editions which only benefited the first three.

This test is valued at eight million kwanzas, six more than previous editions. He revealed that the first classified will receive 250 thousand kwanzas, the second 200 thousand, the third 150,000.00, 80 for the fourth, fifth 70, sixth 60, seventh 50, eighth 40, ninth 30 and the tenth 20,000.00, all of these in conventional male class.

The organization will reward the first two classified by age, with emphasis on veteran athletes aged 40 to 60.

Registration is being done online, and on Tuesday a post will be set up in front of the municipal administration’s facilities in person. The race, with a 10-kilometre route, has its starting point next to the sponsoring company’s facilities, on the expressway, towards Cacuaco, road 230 and ends at the municipal administration.

The race, which will also feature the participation of runners from the provinces of Cuanza Sul, Bié, Huambo and Huíla, was established in 2019.
