More than 30 candidates for the March 2024 presidential election in Russia – news

More than 30 people are running for the post of president of Russia, so the campaign will be competitive, said the director of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Russia. “Of course the campaign will be competitive, because it is obvious that there will be more than one candidate.

In any case, there are currently more than 30 candidates”, said Ella Pamfilova, in an interview with Tass, this Tuesday. The CEC director also highlighted that candidates now have “organization time”, “they hold events, parties hold congresses”.

“In my opinion, the level of competition depends not so much on the number of candidates but on their quality,” added Pamfilova. Remember that elections in Russia will take place between the 15th and 17th of March 2024 and the territories occupied by Russia in the East and South of Ukraine will also participate in the vote.

Vladimir Putin is seeking a new six-year term in the Kremlin. Almost all of the main political opponents, such as activist Alexei Navalny, have been arrested or forced into exile. In theory, the current Russian head of state can remain in the Kremlin until 2036, the year in which he turns 84.
