More than 25,000 people cheered at the Special Olympics Games

Asunción, IP Agency.- Since the start of competitions on Saturday, October 5, more than 25,000 people entered the sports parks where the tests for the IV Latin American Games of Special OlympicsASU2024 were held.

Of this number, 5,000 were students who joined the stands to encourage the teams, the general coordinator of the Games, Larissa Schaerer, told the state media.

Although in these games, it is highlighted that the important thing is not to win, but to have the opportunity to participate healthily, Paraguay has so far obtained 50 gold medals and many more silver and bronze medals, he added.

The ASU2024 Games bring together more than 1,000 athletes from 19 countries in the region and 4 invited countries (Spain, Germany, Belgium and the island of Bonnaire). The unified sports partners and about 600 families also accompany.

Athletics, Basketball (3×3) Unified, Badminton, Bocce, Tennis, Beach Volleyball, Rhythmic/Artistic Gymnastics, Powerlifting, Swimming, Futsal, Table Tennis, Triathlon, Hockey and 1 Exhibition Sport: Taekwondo.
