More than 23 billion euros: CMA-CGM signs record profits for a French company in 2022

No one does it better than him. The French shipowner CMA-CGM once more took advantage of the overheating of maritime transport in 2022 to post a record net profit of 24.88 billion dollars (regarding 23.4 billion euros), the highest published by a company French for the year 2022. Better than TotalEnergies, Stellantis, or even LVMH, and almost unheard of in France. In 2021, the Vivendi group had published 24.69 billion euros in net profit, a figure however boosted by the exceptional capital gain from the sale of Universal Music.

In 2022, CMA-CGM transported 21.7 million containers. The Marseille shipowner’s turnover increased by 33.1% over one year, to 74.5 billion dollars (regarding 70.1 billion euros), the group said in a press release published on Friday. The world’s third-largest shipowner has thus been driven by historically high sea freight prices since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, with the recovery in demand and congested ports.
