More than 21,600 families living in different neighborhoods on Ilha do Mussulo, in Luanda, will benefit from this month, for the first time in the history of this location, from electricity through the implementation of a rural electrification project that will be launched this Friday, 22nd, in the town of Buraco
The project, under the coordination of the Ministry of Energy and Water, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Luanda, will cover residents of the neighborhoods Ponta da Barra, Pior, Cambaxi, Mussulo Centro, Seis Macoco, Buraco, Farol das Palmeirinhas and Tapo.
To this end, the Government built a 15kV Medium Voltage distribution line and installed a Transformer Pole (PT) with a power of 100kVA.
In addition to home connections, public lighting posts and their respective luminaires were installed.
In some properties, connections have already been made, with greater emphasis on the station and the medical center. Customer registration and home connections are currently underway, as well as the installation of prepaid meters, according to a note sent to the OPAÍS newspaper.
The aforementioned project, budgeted at 21 thousand 820 euros, includes the installation of 26 PT’s, 3 thousand 600 household connections and public lighting in 950 points, in order to guarantee a better quality of life for residents. “The project is scheduled to be completed this year.
As you know, all projects of this kind internationally must always count on possible financial constraints, but the forecast is before the month of December”, explains the Government in the aforementioned note, highlighting that they are investment projects with external financing, and In these cases, the biggest difficulty is how to find a financier.
The government highlights that with the implementation of the electricity network, the foundations will be created for strengthening tourist activity, developing the fishing sector and reducing pollutants through the use of clean energy sources.
Water supply
The Ministry of Energy and Water announces that on the same day, that is, Friday, it will hold a workshop on water, in reference to World Water Day, which is celebrated on that day, at the facilities of the Water Treatment Plant of EPAL, located in the centrality of Kilamba KK5000.
“It should be noted that this ETA has a nominal capacity of 40 thousand cubic meters of water per day and its areas of influence are the centrality of Kilamba and the urbanization of KK5000”, the note reads. Under the motto, “Water for Peace”, the activity aims to promote awareness of the challenges and solutions related to water management across the country.
The note, to which OPAÍS had access, says that the event is intended to encourage dialogue between authorities, companies, experts and the community, aiming to share knowledge, experiences and the search for innovative strategies.
Through this initiative, the institution seeks to strengthen collaboration and commitment to promoting peace, sustainability and equitable access to water for all citizens.
It should be remembered that March 22nd has been considered World Water Day since 1993, a date that was established by the UN with the aim of remembering the importance of this resource for human and nature survival.
