The 2023 edition of Paris Games Week saw its audience jump 21% compared to last year. More than 180,000 people came to test more than 300 games.

Paris Games Week wanted to reach a new milestone with its “Next Level” edition, and it has now been achieved. After five days of the show, the main French video game event announced that 180,000 people had walked the aisles of the event. This is 21% more than in 2021, for the return of Paris Games Week following the pandemic but a little less than the 200,000 people hoped for.

“The first video game show in France has confirmed its attractiveness and popularity, with an audience of loyal fans as well as new curious ones,” commented the organizers in a statement.

This year, the great strength of Paris Games Week came from the large number of games testable on site: almost 300. Above all, it was possible to get your hands on games not yet released such as Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown or Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. Many French titles were highlighted, notably through the Jeux Made in France stand.

Esports very present at the show

The show was an opportunity for six ministers and secretaries of state to come and meet France’s leading cultural industry. Bruno Le Maire notably called for ensuring that the proportion of women in competitions, both amateur and professional, is greater.

Esports also played a significant role at the show with one of the three halls entirely dedicated to the discipline. The show hosted the League of Legends French Cup, but also an official Street Fighter 6 competition (disrupted by environmental activists).

Another highlight of the event, an auction saw around a hundred retrogaming lots sold this Sunday, November 5. Some copies of games were acquired for more than 4,000 euros.

A new edition of Paris Games Week is already in the pipeline for 2024.
