Vehicle sales in Morocco amounted to 161,410 units, once morest 175,360 units sold in 2021, a decrease of 8%, indicated the Association of importers of vehicles in Morocco (Aivam). Impacted by the availability of stocks, the sales of passenger cars (VP) amounted to 143,186 units, compared to 154,123 units sold in 2021, a decrease of 7%. However, Asian brands suffered less from semiconductor issues than their European competitors.
For its part, the commercial vehicle market (LCV) experienced a more pronounced general decline of 14% compared to 2021, to 18,224 registrations.
Almost all of the brands are down except for Renault, which has regained the lead in the rankings with 26.6% market share (4,840 registrations) thanks to the Express effect which replaced the Dacia Dokker.
According to Aivam, the drop in LCV sales is due to the lack of visibility and uncertainty regarding the economic context.
